Ada County, Idaho

Democratic gubernatorial nominee Jerry Brady carried the county in his 2002 and 2006 races, despite losing statewide in both contests.

Idaho Legislature

Ada County, the state's largest by population, currently has eight legislative districts within its boundaries.

The 2008 and 2009 sessions of the Idaho Legislature met in converted courtrooms in the old Ada County Courthouse.


David H. Bieter

In 2003 Bieter was elected Boise mayor in a nonpartisan contest, defeating Republican Party activist Chuck Winder and Ada County Sheriff Vaughn Killeen.

Larry Jackson

He went on to serve four terms as a Republican from Ada County in the Idaho House of Representatives, became executive director of the Republican State Committee, and ran for Governor in 1978 but did not get the party nomination.
