Finally, in 689, Cunipter issued forth with the men of Piedmont and defeated Alahis and the men of Venetia at the Battle of Coronate, on the Horn of the Adda, near Lodi.
In 1869 Cristoforo Benigno Crespi, a textile manufacturer from Busto Arsizio (Varese), bought the 1 km valley between the rivers Brembo and Adda, to the south of Capriate, with the intention of installing a cotton mill on the banks of the Adda.
In 1897 a cotton textile industry was created in the province of Milan and his factory and its worker village, called Crespi d’Adda was built on the left bank of the river Adda between the towns of Capriate San Gervasio and Canonica d’Adda where the flow of water provided hydro electric energy to power the cotton looms.
He also studied as architect and engineer, and planned a never realized though interesting project to make navigable the Adda River from Cornate and Paderno.
