Brenton Sanderson – coach of Adelaide Crows (2012 - present) and former Australian rules footballer for Adelaide (1992 – 1993), Collingwood (1994) and Geelong (1995 – 2005).

In more recent times players from Broken Hill have managed to find their mark with the country's premier league, the Australian Football League (AFL), including Fremantle's Dean Solomon, Brent Staker of West Coast and Brisbane, Taylor Walker of Adelaide and Mitch Clisby of the Melbourne Football Club.

Laurence Schache

Schache played 17 games for Brisbane in 1991, winning the club's Leading Goalkicker award in his first season with 47 goals, including a best return of six goals against Adelaide in Round 14.
