The station is broadcast on 104.1 Darwin and Palmerston and 98.7 Alice Springs and can also be heard across the Northern Territory in Batchelor, Katherine/Tindal, Tennant Creek, Nhulunbuy and Adelaide River.
The station officially opened in 1889, following the completion of the bridge across the Adelaide River in December 1888.
In 1864 the South Australian government, desiring to open up the Northern Territory, organized a survey party under Finniss, appointing him Government Representative and giving him instructions to examine the Adelaide River and the coastline to the west and east of it.
There was a hanging bedsheet and projector movie theatre, an agreeable swimming hole in the nearby Adelaide River, and a squadron store which sold any number of interesting items, acquired through questionable means or otherwise.

In 1864 the South Australian government charged B. T. Finniss with finding a suitable site by the Adelaide River for the capital of the Northern Territory.
