The newly created Ajax Cape Town had a strong season, finishing in fourth place on 53 points, with inaugural PSL champions Manning Rangers just behind them in fifth.
Harpur also played in South Africa for Manning Rangers, Ajax Cape Town and Mpumalanga Black Aces; he retired from playing in 2012, taking a sporting director role at La Manga Club in Spain.
In January 2013, after the dismissal of Maarten Stekelenburg, and the interim managerial positions of both Wilfred Mugeyi and Jan Pruijn for Ajax Cape Town, Versleijen took over as the third care taker for the Cape club, intended to see the South African club through until the end of the 2012-13 Premier Soccer League season.
Since 2007 after retiring from professional football as a player, Wilfred Mugeyi became an assistant coach at his former club Ajax Cape Town having served as an assistant to Craig Rosslee, Muhsin Ertuğral, Foppe de Haan and finally Maarten Stekelenburg.
