Al Sadd were the first ever visitors on Saturday 12 August 1982, running out 4–1 winners on the day.
Zeraei was available for the Qatar U-23 team in the 2011 GCC Games as one of the overage against UAE in the third place match, as Al Arabi's game against Al Sadd was postponed due to Al Sadd's involvement in the AFC Champions League.
After 1986 Asian Games, he boycotted playing for Iran national football team and left for Qatar where he joined Qatar SC for which he played for 4 years followed by one season in Al-Sadd Doha.
He made his senior team debut for Al Sadd in 2005 against Al-Karamah SC.
He later signed for Qatari side Al-Sadd in 2008, where he played only six months before transferring on loan to Birmingham City in England.
Coincidentally, Gholam scored Al Sadd's only goal against A.C. Milan in a 2-1 defeat in a farewell match for former club legend Jafal Rashed Al-Kuwari in 2009.
When AC Milan came to visit Doha in March 2009, in a farewell match for Jafal Rashed Al-Kuwari, Soria guested for Al Sadd.
