Bernal had played almost 100 games of Spanish club football whilst on loan to Albacete Balompié and Xerez in the Spanish lower divisions after graduating from the AIS before playing most of his club football at Reading in England, where he was part of the team that narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League in the 1994–95 season.
In his career, until now, he played with Serbian clubs FK Mladost Lučani, Red Star Belgrade, FK Vojvodina, FK Borac Čačak, FK Radnički Obrenovac, FK Sevojno, FK Novi Pazar, FK Sloga Bajina Bašta and FK FAP, but also abroad, with Spanish Albacete Balompié, Greek Panionios F.C. and Bosnian FK Drina Zvornik.
Pedro made his debut with the Colchoneros first team on 8 December 2011, replacing Pizzi midway through the second half of a 1–2 Copa del Rey defeat at Albacete Balompié (1–3 on aggregate).
