All of the songs on the CD were originally sung by Alexz Johnson, but when she was signed to Capitol Records, legal issues had Johnson to perform only four songs, while others were sung by other artists.
Her debut solo record, "Dirty Chemistry" was produced by songwriters Christopher Ward and Fred St-Gelais, who have worked with artists such as Alannah Myles, Amanda Marshall, and Randy Bachman, and who have also been working with Alexz Johnson on the music for Instant Star.
