He died at Tewin Water near Tewin, Hertfordshire on 16 July 1906 after seeing a rapid deterioration in his health.
Together with Cecil John Rhodes, Barney Barnato, Alfred Beit and others, the Albu brothers belonged to the wealthy and influential Randlord set.
Another event of considerable commercial importance to the Cape Colony, and indeed to all of South Africa, was the amalgamation of the diamond-mining companies which was chiefly brought about by Cecil Rhodes, Alfred Beit and "Barney" Barnato in 1889.
Cecil John Rhodes and Alfred Beit befriended him, and in 1889 he became a mining consultant at the Corner House to Hermann Eckstein & Co., in which Beit was the majority shareholder.
He has exhibited these paintings in Russborough House, courtesy of the Sir Alfred Beit Foundation in 2009 and 2010, The Orangery, Holland Park, London 2010 and most importantly in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin in April 2012.

On the 13 March 1888 the leaders of the various mines decided to amalgamate the separate diggings into one big mine and one big company known as De Beers Consolidated Mines Limited, with life governors such as Cecil John Rhodes, Alfred Beit and John Rhodes.
The First Luangwa Bridge was built in Zambia's colonial era in 1932 as a narrow 300 m long wide steel and reinforced concrete deck on concrete piers and columns, financed, like the Chirundu Bridge and Beit Bridge by the Beit Trust.
