It was only 2008 when the station was converted to an originating GMA station in Pangasinan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Zambales, Benguet, La Union, Ifugao, Mountain Province and Northern Parts of Ilocos Sur are Tagudin, Suyo, Alilem, Sugpon and Cervantes.

Bombo Radyo Vigan provides news, public service, drama and music for radio listeners in Vigan City, and the province of Abra (in the Cordilleras) and Ilocos Sur, though its signal can be received as far as San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte to the north and the northernmost portion of province of La Union, even Sual, Pangasinan, to the south.

Churches - most notable of these churches include the Vigan Cathedral (which is the seat of eva Segovia, and where the remains of the Ilocano poet Leona Florentino is interred), Santa Maria Church (which is inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list), Candon Church (has a grand facade and is famous for its tall bell tower and the longest painting in the Philippines) and Sinait Church (which houses the miraculous Statue of the Black Nazarene).

His mother, Leona Florentino was the most outstanding Filipino woman writer of the Spanish era.

In 1854, the province of La Unión was created out of the towns that had heretofore belonged to Ilocos Sur and Pangasinan.

Ilocos Sur's 1st legislative district special election, 2011

The special election was called after incumbent representative Ronald Singson resigned on March 7, 2011 after being convicted of drug possession by the Wan Chai District Court in Hong Kong.

University of Northern Philippines

President Manuel Luis Quezon converted the Ilocos Sur Trade School in 1941 through the help of Assemblyman Benito T. Soliven and Governor Pedro Singson Reyes.
