Prof. Nayfeh is a fellow of the American Physical Society (APS), the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Society of Design and Process Science, and the American Academy of Mechanics (AAM).
He was ASME Fellow and Chair of AMD Executive Committee (2001-2002), Fellow of the American Academy of Mechanics and President (1999-2001), as well as Member of the Stability Research Council, the International Association for Structural Engineering in Reactor Technology, and non-member advisor of the ASCE Committee for Inelastic Behavior of Materials).
