Cyrus Curtis was among the initial ten inductees in the American Advertising Federation's Advertising Hall of Fame (1999).
In 1992, the American Advertising Federation named him Advertising Educator of the year, and in 1998 Sales and Marketing Management magazine named him one of the 80 Most Influential People in sales and marketing.
His comics and illustrations have received awards from Communication Arts, Print, American Illustration, HOW Magazine, STEP Inside Design and the American Advertising Federation.

Griffin has held other industry positions, serving as Chairman of the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA), Chairman of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and as a Director of the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) and the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC).
He was also named "Top Advertising Agency Executive" in 1969 and received the American Academy of Achievement Award in 1976 and was inducted into the American Advertising Federation Hall of Fame in same year.
