2 unusual facts about Andromeda galaxy

Andromeda Galaxy

Discovered through a data collected by the ESA's XMM-Newton probe, and subsequently observed by NASA's Swift and Chandra, the Very Large Array, and the Very Long Baseline Array, the microquasar was the first observed within the Andromeda Galaxy and the first outside of the Milky Way Galaxy.

Extragalactic planet

A team of scientists has used gravitational microlensing to come up with a tentative detection of an extragalactic exoplanet in Andromeda, our nearest large galactic neighbour.

Andromeda VIII

It is a companion galaxy to the Andromeda Galaxy, M31, and evaded detection for so long due to its diffuse nature.

Baek Yoon-sik

Playing an arrogant company executive—believed by the film's hero to be an alien from Andromeda Galaxy—Baek's performance won him a Best Actor Award from the 2003 Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival, as well as numerous best supporting actor mentions from local awards ceremonies.

Cosmology

The resolution of this debate came with the detection of novae in the Andromeda galaxy by Edwin Hubble in 1923 and 1924.

IC 10

The apparent distance between IC 10 and the Andromeda Galaxy is about the same as the apparent distance between the Andromeda Galaxy and the Triangulum Galaxy, which suggests that IC 10 may belong to the M31 subgroup.

Nebula

The Andromeda Galaxy, for instance, was referred to as the Andromeda Nebula (and spiral galaxies in general as "spiral nebulae") before the true nature of galaxies was confirmed in the early 20th century by Vesto Slipher, Edwin Hubble and others.

Nebulium

Many of these, such as the Andromeda Nebula, had spectra that looked like stellar spectra, and these turned out to be galaxies.

Planetary nebula

He later found that many nebulous objects such as the Andromeda Nebula (as it was then known) had spectra that were quite similar.
