He holds an honorary title from the Architectural League of New York as well as the title of "Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres" from the French Republic.
Following the inclusion of the McWilliam residence in the Venice Biennale 1991 their Cotton Tree social housing project was selected worldwide for inclusion in the 'Ten Shades of Green' exhibition in New York; an exhibition demonstrating architectural excellence and environmental sensitivity organised by the Architectural League of New York.
Alongside Tehrani, Ms. Ponce de Leon received both the Young Architects Award in 1997 and the Emerging Voices Award in 2003 from the Architectural League of New York.

Greenley served as the president of the Architectural League of New York for a quarter of a century, and was one of the featured architects in the book Long Island Country Houses And Their Architects 1860 to 1940 by Robert Mackay and Brendan Gill.
