Non-native Christian communities are largely found in the urban regions of Alexandria and Cairo, and are members of the Greek Orthodox Church of Alexandria, the Melkite Greek Catholic Church, the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Roman Catholic Church, the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, the Maronite Church, the Armenian Catholic Church, the Chaldean Catholic Church, the Syriac Catholic Church, or the Syriac Orthodox Church.
Hemaiag Bedros XVII Ghedighian (in Armenian Հմայեակ Պետրոս ԺԷ. Կետիկեան) (2 October 1905, in Partizak, Armenia – 28 November 1998, in Lebanon) was the Armenian Catholic Catholicos-Patriarch of Cilicia from July 1976 until May 1982, when he resigned because of legal age and was succeeded by Patriarch Hovhannes Bedros XVIII Kasparian.
When he was fourteen years old, his parish priest noticed in him signs of a priestly vocation, so he sent him to the convent of Bzoummar, Lebanon where the Armenian Catholic Church still has its headquarters.
