Joseph-Nicolas Barbeau du Barran (3 July 1761, Castelnau-d'Auzan - 16 May 1816, Assens, Vaud canton) was a French politician.

Narrow gauge railways in Denmark

Most notably, narrow gauge railways in Denmark were built and used by De Danske Sukkerfabrikker (Danish Sugar Corporation) to transport juice from sugar beets from purpose built "juice stations" to the main sugar factories in towns such as Nakskov, Nykøbing and Assens.

However, a few engines survived with Bloustrød-banen, as well as one engine surviving as a display item in Assens park until the mid-1990s.


Assens station

Assens railway station was the terminus of the Tommerup-Assens railway line, connecting the town of Assens with the Funen Main Line on the island of Funen in central Denmark.

John VII of Hoya

John VII of Hoya (died 11 June 1535, fell in battle near Assens on Funen in Denmark) was a German count and army commander in the service of Lübeck and Sweden.

He attempted to occupy the island of Funen, however, his army was trounced at Mount Ochsenberg, near Assens, by a Danish army led by Johann Rantzau.
