Pullhair Rubeye is the first album released by Animal Collective member Avey Tare (David Portner) and his then-wife Kría Brekkan (Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir, formerly of múm).

Regarding the songs' absences, singer and guitarist Avey Tare wrote to fans that the band recorded studio versions for both, but decided against including them on the album, "partially due to their lengths".
