Between 2005 and 2013 he was Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

Wynne Godley

Born in London, he went to Rugby School then read politics, philosophy and economics at New College, Oxford where Isaiah Berlin was one of his tutors, and trained to become a professional musician, studying at the Paris Conservatoire for three years, and then becoming principal oboist at the BBC Welsh Orchestra.


Arlene Sierra

Performers of her work have included New York City Opera VOX, the American Composers Orchestra, the London Sinfonietta, the New Music Players, Psappha, the International Contemporary Ensemble, Chroma, the Schubert Ensemble, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and the Tokyo Philharmonic.

In 1979 BBC Wales broadcast an operatic adaptation of The Rajah's Diamond by Alun Hoddinott, starring Geraint Evans and featuring the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
