2007 World Darts Trophy

The tournament has a playing format comparable with the two World Championships – BDO World Darts Championship and PDC World Darts Championship and features the majority of top ranked players from both organisations.

Current PDC World Champion Raymond van Barneveld was beaten in the first round by fellow countryman Jelle Klaasen in a repeat of the 2006 BDO World final.

Christian Kist

Kist qualified for the 2012 BDO World Championship via the International Playoffs.

After losing in the first round to James Wilson at the 2014 Championship, Kist announced he would be switching to the Professional Darts Corporation by entering their Qualifying School.

Kist was knocked out in the first round against Robbie Green at the 2013 BDO World Championship.

Egmond aan Zee

It is usually held in December, at the Hotel Zuiderduin, and is traditionally the last tournament held before the World Championship.


Phil Gilman

Despite his British Open success, Gilman never played at the BDO World Darts Championship, but did play in the 1992 Winmau World Masters beating Denmark's Jann Hoffmann in the first round before losing to Mike Gregory.

Vincent van der Voort

His best results in British Darts Organisation events were winning the Danish Open in 2002 and 2006 and reaching the quarter finals of the BDO World Championship at Frimley Green in 2005, defeating 2004 champion Andy Fordham in the process.
