Yates in 2011 described the Irish bankruptcy process as "purgatory" and publicly announced that he was contemplating moving to the Wales to avail of the UK bankruptcy process.
On 11 November 2011 Mr Quinn said that he had applied for voluntary bankruptcy in Belfast, and issued a statement asking the media to consider his views as well as the bank's.
On 4 August 2006, the Evening Standard reported that the Cheeky Girls were already "at rock bottom" and facing bankruptcy action in court owing to not having been paid by their now defunct record company Telstar Records.
