Paul Barril (13 April 1946 in Vinay, Isère) is a former officer of the French Gendarmerie Nationale.

Barril was involved in several famous affairs, such as the so-called "Irish of Vincennes" and the Elysée wiretap scandal.
Because of these features, beaches in the Ria Formosa area are well known, like Vale do Lobo, Faro Island, Culatra, Barril, Tavira Island, Cabanas de Tavira, Cacela Velha and Manta Rota.
