Ceawlin (pronounced See-aw-lin) Thynn attended Horningsham Primary School and Kingdown Comprehensive School in Warminster, Bedales School in Hampshire, and read economics and philosophy at University College London.
Both he and his younger brother Nigel (1936–2010) attended Bedales School in Hampshire, an antidote to the harsh Victorian public school mentality, where they were exposed to a liberal education and intellectual freedom much in line with their parents' own progressive outlook on the world.
Frederic Alfred Meier (4 February 1887 – 13 February 1954) was a British school master and headmaster of Bedales School, with a special interest in practical methods of teaching Physics.
She was educated at Bedales School, where she became Head Girl, and studied medicine at University College, London from 1918, later moving to Charing Cross Hospital due to the hostility to female students she experienced at UCL.
