The 1989 Biathlon World Championship was held here, the first joint Men and Women BWCH.

Seefeld hosted the Biathlon World Championships in 1963 which also served as a test event for the 1964 Games.

In 2005 (March 4–13) it hosted the Biathlon World Championships, as it also did in 1978 and 1998, and is a regular venue in the annual IBU World Cup series.

Sergey Bulygin

During his career he won an Olympic gold medal as part of the Soviet Union 4 x 7.5 km relay team in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo and 4 gold medals and a silver at World Championships.
