Like the first album Black List, that was based on the theme of the "seven deadly sins" and the second album Q.E.D. (inspired by the Black Dahlia murder), 2012 is also a theme-based album that embodies the beliefs that Acid Black Cherry has consistently sung about since it began.
Originally, the record was going to include another original song, "Slow Infection", based on the Black Dahlia murder, and a cover of the Hallows Eve song "Plunging to Megadeath".
The piercings, placed at or very near the corners of the mouth, are named in reference to the murder of Black Dahlia, in which the victim's mouth was cut along the same horizontal line along which these piercings are placed.
The Examiner was the first newspaper to break the story of the dismemberment murder of 22-year-old Elizabeth Short, who was ultimately dubbed the Black Dahlia by Los Angeles Herald-Express crime reporter Bevo Means.
