The site is popular with watchers of wetland birds, such as the Japanese White-eye, Red-crested Cardinal, White-rumped Shama, Black-crowned Night Heron, Black-necked Stilt, Nutmeg Mannikin, Black Noddy, Wedge-tailed Shearwater, White-tailed Tropicbird, Red-tailed Tropicbird, Common Myna, Common Waxbill, Cattle Egret and a variety of others.

18 species of seabird, the Black-footed Albatross, Laysan Albatross, Bonin Petrel, Bulwer's Petrel, Wedge-tailed Shearwater, Christmas Shearwater, Tristram's Storm-petrel, Red-tailed Tropicbird, Masked Booby, Red-footed Booby, Brown Booby, Great Frigatebird, Spectacled Tern, Sooty Tern, Blue-gray Noddy, Brown Noddy, Black Noddy and White Tern nest on the islands, most of them (16) on Tern Island.
Noteworthy fauna includes several species of seabirds, including the Red-footed Booby (Sula sula), Great Frigatebird (Fregata minor), Lesser Frigatebird (F. ariel), Black Noddy (Anous minutus), White Tern (Gygis alba), Masked Booby (Sula dactylatra), Brown Booby (S. leucogaster) and Brown Noddy (Anous stolidus).
