Earlier in 2007, while on a break from touring, Edmaiston joined Memphis guitar player Joe Restivo, drummer George Sluppick and Al Gamble to form The Grip, a four-piece jazz instrumental band specializing in boogaloo music.

In 1966, his band which included timbales, congas, sometimes bongos, bass, vibraphones, and the piano among its musical instruments, scored a "hit" in the United States National Hit Parade List with the song "Bang Bang" - which helped kick off the popularity of the boogaloo.

As the songs title contained the trademark names Coca-Cola and the Swedish chewing gum Bugg, the European Broadcasting Union demanded that the lyrics would be changed before the Brussels final, so the song was renamed Boogaloo.
Commander Action, a Spanish veteran of the skies (David Kangas - also the Producer and Director) led the rest of this team made up of Gribulous Bertnog Pimplewix, an alien (Mike Rance), Boogaloo, a protocol droid and library management system (Simon Fielding) and Akira Neo 'Rocket Girl', the ships engineer (Anna Singleton) in their mission to 'Save the world, one cartoon at a time' from the evil Dr. Poopanski - Poopants (Jimmy Hunt).
