Cult wine

The cult wines of Bordeaux tend to be left-bank cabernet-based wines that ranked highly in the Classification of 1855.


Château de Myrat

The estate is located in the commune of Barsac and produces a sweet white wine (Sauternes) ranked as a Grand Cru of Second Growth (Deuxième Cru) class in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.

Médoc

With the exception of Château Haut-Brion from Graves, all of the red wines in the 1855 Classification are from the Médoc.

Médoc AOC

Predominantly an area of cooperatives today, none of the estates were included in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855, although several have been included in the (eventually discontinued) classification Cru Bourgeois.

Saint-Julien-Beychevelle

St-Julien contains no First Growths but it does have estates ranked as Second, Third and Fourth Growths in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.
