Shortly after her residency, she took a teaching position at Boston University School of Medicine and became a staff physician at Boston City Hospital.
He received his graduate medical training from 1962 to 1971 at Boston City Hospital/Harvard, the National Heart Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, the University of California at San Francisco and the Stanford University School of Medicine.
Her first job was at Boston City Hospital, where she received almost no training and was subjected to overwork.
After graduating from Medical Mildred went on to apply for a surgical internship at Boston City Hospital, becoming the first woman to do so.
