Horn, editor of the Journal de St.-Pétersbourg, as well as a contribution on "Savings Banks in the United States" by John P. Townsend, president of the Bowery Savings Bank.
From 1972 to 1992, baseball Hall-of-Famer Joe DiMaggio was spokesman for the Bowery Savings Bank.

It was designed by York and Sawyer in Italian Romanesque Revival style, with William Louis Ayres as the partner in charge.
Before joining FPA, he was chairman of The Bowery Savings Bank, a venerable New York institution founded in 1834.
