Johnston and fellow musicians Jay Moran, James "Pie" Cowan, Duke Erikson, and Butch Vig perform occasional shows as a covers band called "The Know-it-All Boyfriends".
Its central set up is of four female friends and their problems with boyfriends and husbands, and it has been compared to Sex and the City.
Ted and Barney eventually find out that these two girls have boyfriends who are players for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Her past boyfriends, such as Jimmy Kimmel Live! writer and The Sarah Silverman Program actor Steve Agee and a marketing executive named Brandon, discussed why their relationship failed.
The album version of "Two in a Million" and the Boyfriends & Birthdays version (so named as it was the theme song of their BBC TV movie) are almost exactly the same, except the Boyfriends & Birthdays version has a slightly more robust instrumentation, taking on a more orchestral and R'n'B approach, and pauses the music during the last line of each verse right before the chorus.
The band soon began playing local venues such as Stork Club, Blakes On Telegraph, The Independent and the Red Devil Lounge with other local acts such as Ex-boyfriends, Hottub, Wallpaper, Hundred Days, The Hot Toddies and Bwuh.
