During the war she was evacuated with a group of pupils from Sherborne to Branksome Hall School in Toronto, Canada.
He lives in Toronto with his wife, Heather Gilley, and his family, and has served his community as Board Chair of Branksome Hall, an internationally-minded school for girls.
Senior students from UCC and Branksome Hall began working together in the late 1980s and have sustained the annual conference for over 25 years.

She graduated from Branksome Hall in 1976 and worked as a flight attendant for Nordair, during which time she was named Miss Interline and received a trophy from company vice-president Paul Pelletier.
