Lowndes County, Georgia

On August 9, a meeting convened in the academy building in Troupville at which it was decided to create from the area of Lowndes County to the west of the Withlacoochee River a new county to be called Brooks County.


Grooverville, Georgia

Grooverville was once known as Key and was located at the crossing of the Thomasville and Madison and Sharpe's Store Road, which was in Thomas County prior to the creation of Brooks County, Georgia from Lowndes and Thomas County in 1858.
