In 1931, he approached the Brown Derby owner Robert H. Cobb and offered to draw caricatures of the famous patrons who dinned at the restaurant.

Henry Bergman

Chaplin helped Bergman finance a restaurant in Hollywood, named 'Henry's', which became a popular spot for celebrities as a precursor to the later Brown Derby restaurant.


Gilmore Field

After but one season, the team was sold to new owners, among them Bob Cobb of Brown Derby Restaurant fame and the inventor of the California Cobb Salad.
