When Maximilian and Carlota ascended the throne of Mexico in 1863 with the support of the French troops of Napoleon III, the new monarchs invited the Iturbide family back to Mexico.
# Franz Frederick Anton, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (b. Coburg 15 July 1750 – d. Coburg, 9 December 1806), father of Leopold I of Belgium and grandfather of Leopold II, Empress Carlota of Mexico, Queen Victoria of Great Britain, and her husband Prince Albert.
The name of the station is from the green square adjacent to the entrance (Joséphine-Charlottesquare / Square Joséphine-Charlotte) in the municipality of Woluwe-Saint-Pierre / Sint-Pieters-Woluwe.
In 1974, on the occasion of the celebrations for his 100th birthday which he attended in the presence of Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte at the Municipal Theatre, the Army Band played some of his finest works.
Conservatives, and many in the Mexican nobility, tried to revive the monarchical form of government (see: First Mexican Empire) when they helped to bring to Mexico an archduke from the Royal House of Austria, Maximilian Ferdinand, or Maximilian I, who was married to Charlotte of Belgium, who changed her name to Carlota when she and Maximillian were sent to Trieste.
