Belonging to the first class that was admitted to China Central Academy of Fine Arts when this institution was reopened after the Cultural Revolution in 1977, she continued her education at the State Academy of Arts in Oslo, Norway, where she is now a citizen.

One group was from the China Central Academy of Fine Arts: Zhang Ding, Zhang Guangyu, Zhou Lingzhao, Zhong Ling, and the other group was from the Department of Architecture at Tsinghua University: Liang Sicheng, Lin Huiyin, Mo Zongjiang, Zhu Changzhong, Li Zongjin and Gao Zhuang.
During Deng Wei’s youth, he studied painting under the tutelage of Li Keran, a painter and professor at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts.
