The Micro-IMP was ultimately a disappointment because its powerplant (taken from the Citroën 2CV) proved unsuitable, and a projected higher-powered version of the engine did not eventually become available.

By that time, Gurgel had already bought the ground of 650000 square meters, needed for the new factory facilities, and negotiated with Citroën the purchase of machinery used for 2CV production.
The area was used as a filming location in the 1981 James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, where Bond (played by Roger Moore) and Melina Havelock (Carole Bouquet) fled from villains in their yellow Citroen 2CV.
It gave Citroën desperately needed production capacity at Panhard's Ivry plant which from now on produced Citroën 2CV Fourgonettes (light vans) alongside Panhard sedans.
