Javier Sologuren received a doctoral degree in Hispanic literature at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and also made postdegree studies at the Colegio de México an the University of Leuven, Belgium.
While mostly based in Tanzania, he has been visiting professor in various locations: El Colegio De Mexico, the University of Zimbabwe, the University of Warwick, the National Law School of India University, the University of Hong Kong, the Centre of African Studies of the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and CODESRIA, Dakar, Senegal.
He joined El Colegio de México as a professor in 1991 and has worked as visiting scholar at St Anthony's College, University of Oxford; University of Chicago; Trinity College, Dublin; Complutense University of Madrid and University of Salamanca.
