In 1914 the Rovers joined the Class C Colonial League, playing their games at the Sabin Street grounds in the Royal Square area, but were kicked out in August 1915 because of an affiliation with a competing league.

Former Boston Red Sox stars Jim Rice, Fred Lynn, and Butch Hobson honed their skills while members of the "BriSox." The ballpark also housed the old Bristol Owls of the Class-B Colonial League in 1949 and 1950, as well as various amateur baseball teams, notably the Bristol En-Dees and the local American Legion team.
In 1992, he joined the Brantford Smoke of the Colonial league, where he played until 1998, with one tryout with the Denver Grizzlies in 1994–95.
