His brother, Phil Kessel, plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL), his sister Amanda Kessel plays for the United States women's national ice hockey team, his father played football for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League and the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League, and his cousin, David Moss, plays for the Phoenix Coyotes (NHL).
Dutton has collaborated with a wide range of musicians, including fellow oral sound artists Jaap Blonk, Koichi Makigami, Phil Minton, and David Moss in the group Five Men Singing, John Butcher, Bob Ostertag, Phil Durrant, John Russell, Lee Ranaldo, Christian Marclay, Günter Christmann, Thomas Charmetant, Xavier Charles, and Jacques Di Donato.
He has performed and/or recorded with Annie Gosfield, Marc Ribot's Shrek, Elliott Sharp, Fred Frith, Joan Jeanrenaud, Ikue Mori, Carl Stone, Laurie Anderson, Phill Niblock, Alan Licht, David Moss, Hahn Rowe, Chris Cutler, David Krakauer, Chris Brown, Zeitgeist, Relâche, Agon Orchestra, William Winant, Zeena Parkins, Stan Ridgway, Trevor Dunn, Ches Smith, and others.
