Faced with world champion Christy Martin at the Félix Trinidad-David Reid Pay Per View undercard, Laracuente lost a decision in eight rounds, in a bout that HBO Boxing commentator Jim Lampley said that he personally thought Laracuente should have won it by 78 to 74 on his unofficial score.
In the summer of 1996 he joined forces with Matt Tinley to form the ill-fated America Presents with the financial backing of cable-magnate Bill Daniels promoting David Tua, middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins, super welterweight(junior middleweight) and sole US-American 1996 Olympic Gold medallist David Reid and Mike Tyson.
The Reid Baronetcy, of Rademon in the County of Down, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 8 February 1936 for David Reid, Unionist Member of Parliament for East Down from 1918 to 1922 and for Down from 1922 to 1939.
The film features music from some of the most influential bands of the era and culture, including the Butthole Surfers, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag and Naked Raygun, and an original score by American composer David Reid.
