David Stremme, who lost his ride in the #40 Chip Ganassi Racing Dodge last year after they signed Dario Franchitti, will replace the defending Indy 500 champion after Franchitti broke his ankle in the Nationwide Series race on Saturday.
The five drivers that failed to qualify for the race were David Stremme, Travis Kvapil, Eric Darnell, J. J. Yeley, and Scott Wimmer.
In 2003, he replaced Mike McLaughlin in the NASCAR Busch Series, nailing down two top-ten finishes and was named runner-up in the Rookie of the Year honors, despite running the full Busch Series schedule unlike award winner, David Stremme.
