He works in both a strategic and consultative level within LINE Communications and has developed learning and communications solutions for clients such as BP, Ford of Europe, Anglo American, BT, Nokia, Volvo Car Corporation, Department for Education and Skills, The Ministry of Defence, University for Industry, National College for School Leadership and the BBC.
In September 2001 the school was awarded specialist school status as a Technology College, by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).

In 2003 he became the Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Minister of State at the Department for Transport Kim Howells, and remained so when his boss moved sideways to the Department for Education and Skills in 2004.
Funding would come from the Department for Education and Skills, and £2m from the Academy's sponsor, the Church Schools Company (which became the United Church Schools Trust).
