These include the dusky salamander (Desmognathus fuscus), the Allegheny Mountain dusky salamander (Desmognathus ochrophaeus) and the seal salamander (Desmognathus monticola).
It is more likely to be present when the larvae of the northern dusky salamander (Desmognathus fuscus) is present and less likely in streams where the Asiatic mussel (Corbicula sp.) is abundant.
