5th Parliament of Upper Canada

This parliament was dissolved 1 May 1812 by the Administrator of the Government Isaac Brock who had been frustrated in his efforts to pass legislation preparing the colony for war with the United States.

The monarch will grant a dissolution of Parliament if requested (1832 to 2011 – the Lascelles Principles in 1951 informally outlined the principles and issues that might lead to a refusal of a dissolution).

The Cabinet of Thailand held a meeting at the Royal Thai Army Headquarters in Bangkok in which plans for a referendum on the government after PM Samak refused to call for a dissolution of parliament and hold snap elections or he and his government will resign.
