Alcove Springs

Across the road from the Alcove Springs park is another park commemorating the Oregon Trail and features history, wagon swales and a D.A.R. marker memorializing Sarah Keyes, a member of the Donner Party who died in 1846.

Neil Marshall

Marshall described the film, "It is set during the Gold Rush, a time remembered for incidents like the Donner Party. It is meant to be a pitch-black, gritty, period horror movie." The film will be themed on paranoia and isolation, and the director will draw inspiration from the 1982 film The Thing.

Sam Coomes

He started playing in The Donner Party in San Francisco in 1983 and released two albums with them before they disbanded in 1989.

Coomes was also a member of the mid 1980s folk revival band The Donner Party and replaced Brandt Peterson as the bassist for the 1990s Portland grunge band, Heatmiser, playing on their final studio album.

Samuel Woodworth

Woodworth's son, Selim E. Woodworth, was a U.S. Navy officer who took part in the rescue of the snowbound Donner Party in California.

It was here that on September 25, 1846 the Donner Party wagon train completed the segment of their journey on the Hastings Cutoff, and rejoined the original California Trail.
