The championship was won by Peter Doulman, driving a 2.0 litre version of his old Group A BMW M3 (the car was an ex-JPS Team BMW and Mobil 1 Racing team car).
Crompton remained with Brock's Mobil sponsored team for 1988, though by that time they had switched to running BMW M3's.
Following the ATCC, McLeod built a new 'Walkinshaw' spec VL Commodore Group A SV with the engine and suspension supplied by the Peter Brock organisation, who by that stage were running the BMW M3's.
