On the 20 September 1921 it was officially renamed Collinsville after Charles Collins who was the Labor Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly for the Electoral district of Bowen from 1915 to 1936.
The next year, he again made history, when at his third attempt, he won the State electoral seat of Bowen at the 1944 election.
