In 2004, he played twice for a Malaysia Cricket Association Invitation XI against England A, also playing for Malaysia in the Saudara Cup match, an ACC Trophy match against Saudi Arabia, and an ACC Fast Track Countries Tournament match against Hong Kong.
He played for a Malaysian Cricket Association Invitation XI against England A in February 2004, also playing in the Stan Nagaiah Trophy for a second time the same month.
The following year, he played for a Malaysia Cricket Association Invitation XI against England A and the Stan Nagaiah Trophy.

His wonderful Ranji season followed an impressive showing in the 2007–08 Duleep Trophy, where he scored 172 against an England Lions attack comprising Graham Onions, Monty Panesar, Steve Kirby and Liam Plunkett
After an England A tour to Kenya and Sri Lanka in the winter - making his first-class debut in Nairobi - Read was picked up by Nottinghamshire for the 1998 season.
Chopra was part of the England Lions' tour of Australia in 2013, and made a century against Australia A.
