After completing three seasons with OBT he joined the English National Ballet under the direction of Derek Deane, but due to an untimely injury he returned to the U.S. and began teaching.
In addition to performing and choreographing, he has created many works for Rambert and for Nederlands Dans Theater, Houston Ballet and Cullberg Ballet and has had a long-term association with the English National Ballet and the Houston Ballet.
As a dancer, he eventually became a Principal Dancer with The Royal Ballet, later retiring from the stage and working as Deputy Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and Artistic Director of English National Ballet 1993-2001.

Marta donated paintings to numerous charities, including British Red Cross (2009), St Paul's School Children Charity Fund in London (2008), English National Ballet (2008), Linda McCartney Centre for Breast Cancer Research Foundation (2007), Help London Child with Archant Publishing (2007), also supported victims of Cyprus through Honorary Consul for Cyprus in Monaco (2011).
Other scores include The Far Shore commissioned by the British Council and English National Ballet in 2010, and recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra.
She was born as Sally Judd and she became a leading ballerina for the London Festival Ballet who danced in many roles in productions, such as The Nutcracker in 1962.
