At the 1994 WSOP, his first cash at a WSOP event, Song made the final table and finished in 9th place in the $2,500 Limit Hold'em event won by Mike Laing, Three years later he won his first bracelet in the $2,000 Limit Hold'em event at the 1997 WSOP, earning $397,120 in a final table that included other professional players like Dan Heimiller, Erik Seidel, Huck Seed, Berry Johnston and John Esposito.
He defeated a final table that included professional poker players, Padraig Parkinson, Erik Seidel, Chris Bigler, 1996 world champion Huck Seed, and Alan Goehring, whom Furlong defeated in heads-up play to win the title.
At the World Series of Poker he has had a 4th place finish in the 2001 $3,000 No Limit Hold-Em event (which also featured Johnny Chan and Kathy Liebert; and a 5th place finish in the 2005 $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha event (which also featured Todd Brunson, Barry Greenstein (who lost a critical pot to Simon, and then complained about it in his blog.), Erik Seidel and Julian "The Kid" Gardner.
